torsion function

torsion function

[′tȯr·shən ‚fəŋk·shən] (mechanics) A harmonic function, φ(x, y) = w /τ, expressing the warping of a cylinder undergoing torsion, where the x, y, and z coordinates are chosen so that the axis of torsion lies along the z axis, w is the z component of the displacement, and τ is the torsion angle. Also known as warping function.
