Baian-Khara
Baian-Khara
a mountain range in the eastern part of the K’unlun Mountains, People’s Republic of China. About 750 km long, it stretches from northwest to southeast and forms a watershed for the upper reaches of the Huang River to the north and the Yangtse to the south. Its maximum elevation is 5,500 m. The northern slopes rise gently, and the southern slopes descend precipitously to the Yangtse and are furrowed by numerous rivers. The peaks are primarily dome-shaped. The landscape is that of cold high-mountain wastes. The crest zone has permanent snow.
