Tagore. Abanindranath Tagore. Born Aug. 7, 1871, in Calcutta; died there Dec. 5, 1951. A. Tagore was influenced by Persian and Indian miniature art as well as by Japanese painting. His historical, genre, and mythological compositions—mainly watercolors and gouaches—are done in exquisitely decorative colors. Gaganendranath Tagore. Born 1867 in Calcutta; died 1938.
