Potsdam Meeting of 1910

Potsdam Meeting of 1910

a meeting between Nicholas II and William II in Potsdam on October 22–23 (November 4—5) during which negotiations took place concerning Iran and the Baghdad Railroad. Russian minister of foreign affairs S. D. Sazonov and German chancellor T. von Bethmann Hollweg participated in the negotiations.

In an attempt to split the Entente and leave Russia isolated with regard to the Triple Alliance of 1882, Germany proposed that both sides declare that they would not become involved “in political combinations hostile to one another.” However, Russia declined, and no agreement was signed.
