Spun Products

Spun Products

The assortment of spun products is extremely varied, from delicate sewing thread to thick, strong marine ropes. Semifinished articles in the form of twisted thread or yarn, compound yarn, and so on, used in weaving, knitting, and other types of production, are sometimes classified as spun products.

Spun or twisted products are made from cotton (sewing and embroidery thread, cord, netting line, and driving ropes), bast fibers (thread, cord, twine, line, trawl line, and rope), natural silk (sewing thread and surgical silk; twine), and wool (knitting yarn). The manufacture of spun and twisted products from artificial fibers, the use of which increases production efficiency and significantly improves the properties of the articles, is becoming increasingly widespread. In the manufacturing process, several threads with a differing number of twists are usually spun together. The products are frequently bleached or dyed.
