Special Features:Bayou Teche is the only NWR with the specific mission of managing bears. This sub-species of the American black bear occupies much of the refuge and can often be seen.
Habitats: 9,028 acres of bottomland hardwoods and cypress-gum forests.
Access: Sunrise to sunset.
Wild life: Louisiana black bear, alligators, wading birds, bald eagles, ducks, white-tailed deer.
