parapraxis

 [par″ah-prak´sis] (pl. paraprax´es.) a lapse of memory or mental error, such as a slip of the tongue or misplacement of an object, which, in psychoanalytic theory, is due to unconscious associations and motives; commonly called a “freudian slip.”
