Freidlina, Rakhil’ Khatskelevna
Born Sept. 7 (20), 1906, in Samoteevichi, in what is now Kostiukovichi Raion, Mogilev Oblast. Soviet organic chemist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958). Member of the CPSU since 1954.
A student of A. N. Nesmeianov’s, Freidlina graduated from Moscow State University in 1930. She conducted research at the Scientific Research Institute for Fertilizers, Insecticides, and Fungicides from 1930 to 1934, at the Institute of Fine Chemical Technology from 1938 to 1941, and at the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR from 1935 to 1939 and from 1941 to 1954. In 1954 she became head of a laboratory at the Institute of Heteroorganic Compounds of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Her principal works deal with radical telemerization and isomerization. Freidlina has been awarded three orders and various medals.
