Vym
Vym’
(also Iulva; in its upper reaches, Emba), a river in the Komi ASSR; a right tributary of the Vychegda River. Length, 499 km; basin area, 25,600 sq km. It rises on the Timanskii Ridge. Farther on, it flows through a level, forested area with extensive swamps. There are rapids above the mouth of the Elva River. The main tributaries of the Vym’ from the right are the Borykva, Elva, Pozheg, and Chub; from the left they are the Koin and Vesliana. The average annual water discharge is 196 cu m per sec (at the village of Vesliana). The river is suitable for floating logs and is navigable from the point where the Vesliana River flows into it.
