Seiland
an island in the Norwegian Sea, off the northern coast of the Scandinavian Peninsula, from which it is separated by the Vargsund, a narrow strait; part of Norway. Seiland has an area of approximately 560 sq km. It is covered with plateaus and low mountains, with elevations to 1,075 m. Composed of gabbro and gneisses, it has glaciers. Vegetation is of the tundra type. Reindeer are raised; fishing is also important.
