Density, 1.85 g/cm3. Potassium ferrocyanide was first obtained by heating horns, hooves, and blood with K2C03 and iron filings. It is used as a reagent for Fe3+ ions, with which it forms the blue precipitate Prussian blue, Fe 4[[Fe(CN)6].3. Potassium ferrocyanide is also of use in other branches of analytical chemistry.
