释义 | Rogers, EdithRogers, Edith (b. Nourse)(1881–1960) U.S. representative; born in Saco, Maine. Educated in Paris, she returned to Europe during World War I to inspect military hospitals, and continued that work in the United States, a personal representative of presidents Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge (1922–25). Elected to her husband's congressional seat after his death (Rep., Mass.; 1925–60), she championed veterans' rights to pensions and disability allowances, sponsoring the GI Bill of Rights after World War II. |
