Torneträsk
a lake in Lapland, in northern Sweden. The lake covers an area of 322 sq km. It measures 72 km in length and has a maximum width of 9 km and a maximum depth of 168 m. It is situated in a tectonic basin at an elevation of 342 m. Its shores are steep and rocky. The lake is drained by the Torneälven, which flows into the Gulf of Bothnia in the Baltic Sea. The water level rises in summer. The lake is frozen for six to seven months. The Abisko National Park is located on its southwestern shore. The lake is a tourist attraction.
