Terrace Ripper

Terrace Ripper

an agricultural implement for deep loosening of terrace beds without turning over the soil and for simultaneously applying organic and organic-mineral fertilizers; it is used in preparing ground for vineyards and orchards. The terrace ripper produced in the USSR has two working elements in the form of curved ripping frames, two bins with chain-plate conveyors and shutters to regulate the rate of fertilizer application, and a mounting for connection with the tractor’s hydraulic system. The depth of ripping ranges between 45 and 70 cm and is regulated by raising or lowering the ripper’s wheels by means of screw mechanisms. The terrace ripper is coupled with tractors in the 6 tons-force class equipped with hydraulic mounting systems. It has a productivity of 0.2–0.3 hectares/hr and is operated by a tractor operator and two workers who load the fertilizer bin.
