post-perfusion lung

A term of art referring to the changes in the lungs and respiration which develop shortly after cardiovascular surgery.
Clinical findings
Fever, dyspnoea, cyanosis, hypotension, pulmonary oedema caused by anoxia, traumatic haemolysis of RBCs.
Management
Antibiotics, corticosteroids.
 
Prognosis
Relatively guarded.
