Points of interest include the Hubbard Museum of the American West, Fort Stanton, Lincoln State Monument, and Smokey Bear Museum and Park.
Legth: 84 miles. Start/Endpoint: From Ruidoso, this loop route follows US 70 east to Hondo, then US 380 northwest to Capitan, then NM 48 south to Ruidoso. A separate section of the byway follows NM 220 from near Alto and NM 48 to just north of Fort Stanton at US 380. Time to Allow: 2 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (1998).
