posterior tibial vein

A deep vein in the lower limb that accompanies the posterior tibial artery; the vein drains the region supplied by the artery. The posterior tibial vein merges with the anterior tibial vein to form the popliteal vein in the popliteal fossa behind the knee. See also: vein
