Established: 1907.
Location:Off Oregon's coastline, due west of Portland.
Special Features:The first national wildlife refuge established west of the Mississippi River, the site protects Oregon's largest seabird nesting colony, which has more than 230,000 birds.
Habitats: 15 acres of rock islands (three large rocks and six smaller rocks).
Access: Closed to public entry, but can be seen from the mainland at Cape Meares and in the town of Oceanside. Waters within 500 feet of the rocks are closed to all watercraft from May through mid-September.
Wild life: Tufted puffins, common murres, cormorants, Steller sea lions.
