spray nozzle[′sprā ‚näz·əl] (mechanical engineering) A device in which a liquid is subdivided to form a stream (mist) of small drops. spray nozzlei. A nozzle that carries a proportion of the primary combustion air with the injected fuel. The local fuel-rich concentrations produced by other burners are avoided by aerating the spray. Also called an air-spray atomizer ii. A nozzle that atomizes and directs a liquid, as found on an agricultural spray boom. |
