Postavy

a city (since 1940) and administrative center of Postavy Raion, Vitebsk Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Located on the Miadelka River of the Zapadnaia Dvina River basin. Railroad station on the Voropaevo-Pabradé line. Population, 15,600 (1974). Postavy has a flax mill, a cannery, a nonfat-dry-milk plant, a bread-baking combine, and a state forestry establishment. A people’s amateur theater and a museum of local lore are located in Postavy.
