Postal-processing machines include postage meters, sorting machines for separating letter by size and facer-cancelers. There are machines that sort letters according to a feature of the address (city, oblast, and so forth) or according to an alphabetic, numerical, or other code index. There are also machines that tie letters, newspapers, and magazines into bundles with twine. Other postal-processing machines sort mailing wrappers, parcels, and bundles of letters and publications by dispatch route. Stamping machines make up imprinted zinc or tin plates that are used by duplicating machines for printing invoices and lists of goods and addressing newspapers, magazines, and books. Other machines sew up paper bags containing bundles of newspapers and magazines. There are also devices for welding polyethylene packets containing mailing wrappers.
