Terekta Range

Terekta Range

 

a mountain range in the Central Altai. The Terekta Range measures 120 km in length and rises to a maximum elevation of 2,820 m. It is composed chiefly of schists and effusive rocks. The northern slopes are covered with forests of cedar, larch, and fir, and the southern slopes by larch forests. Groves of dwarf birch and willow are found above 2,000 m. There are alpine meadows and mountain tundra near the crest.
