Established: 1969.
Location:Several sites along the Columbia River around Irrigon, Oregon, and Paterson, Washington.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, viewing sites, hiking trails, auto tour route, boat ramps.
Activities:Boating, fishing, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:Refuge provides habitat for all species of ducks found in the West, except sea ducks. The largest number of ducks on the refuge at one time, estimated at 458,000 birds, occurred November 13, 1983.
Habitats: 29,370 acres of marshes, sloughs, open water, cropland, and sagebrush uplands.
Access: Open year round, dawn to dusk.
Wild life: Great Basin Canada geese, ducks, long-billed curlews, and other marsh and water birds; also mule deer and coyote.
