Robenhausen

a Neolithic pile settlement with an area of about 10,000 sq m near the village of the same name on Lake Pfäffikersee in northern Switzerland. The first excavations were conducted in 1857. The settlement was built on piles along the shore of the ancient lake and was connected to the shore by a bridge.

Many objects made from wood, bone, and horn have been found in Robenhausen, including a door of a hut, a dugout, an oar, a bow, arrows, daggers, axes, and end scrapers. The remains of nets, plummets, and buoys, as well as pottery, have also been found. These finds mostly date from the Cortaillod and Michelsberg cultures. The inhabitants of Robenhausen primarily engaged in livestock raising, including the raising of cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. The livestock was kept within the settlement.
