Topography Kinematics

Topography Kinematics

the branch of geomorphology concerned with the change over time in the relative position of points on the earth’s surface. In contrast to morphography and morphometry, which deal with topography under static conditions, topography kinematics studies the earth’s surface in motion but apart from its dependence on the forces and agents that cause the motion. This restriction distinguishes topography kinematics from topography dynamics. The concept of topography kinematics was proposed by the Soviet geomorphologist A. S. Devdariani.
