Stump pullers are made with cable traction (winches; cable devices that operate on direct tractor traction) and with working elements in the form of teeth (hooks) that uproot by tractive or pushing force, lifting force, or a combination of forces. Stump pullers mounted on the front or rear of tractors, as well as trailer and self-propelled stump pullers, are manufactured. The most commonly used stump pullers in the USSR remove stumps by the pushing force of a tractor. They have a frame, a working element with hooks, and a lifting mechanism. During operation, the hooks dig under the stump and move it through the pushing force of the tractor; at the same time, the stump is raised by the uprooting device, or the hooks dig under the stump, and the stump is removed by the pushing force of the tractor.
