[′thȯrp rē‚ak·shən] (organic chemistry) The reaction by which, in presence of lithium amides, α,ω-dinitriles undergo base-catalyzed condensation to cyclic iminonitriles, which can be hydrolyzed and decarboxylated to cyclic ketones.
