Pakhtusov Island
(1) The main island in the group of the same name, off the eastern coast of Novaia Zemlia in the Kara Sea (USSR). Area, 21 sq km. The island was discovered in 1835 by P. K. Pakhtusov.
(2) The low-lying, westernmost island in the group of the same name, part of the Nordenshel’d Archipelago (USSR). Area, approximately 30 sq km. The island was discovered in 1901 by the Russian arctic expedition of E. V. Toll’.
