Popeye Arm Deformity A fanciful descriptor for the clinical changes of Landouzy-Déjérine type of limb-girdle dystrophy—facioscapulohumeral muscle dystrophy—so named for the thinness of the upper arms due to humeral muscle atrophy and pseudohypertrophy or preservation of the forearm musculature. The deformity may be accompanied by involvement of facial muscles, ‘winging’ of scapula, incomplete eye closure, inability to whistle or to raise the arms above the head |
