Location:Eastern Washington, about 20 miles southwest of Spokane.
Facilities:Visitor contact station, trails, auto tour route, observation points (é).
Activities:Hiking, wildlife observation, biking, educational programs.
Special Features:Refuge is in an ecological transition zone between the dry, sagebrush-dotted grasslands of the Columbia Basin and the timbered Selkirk and Bitterroot mountain ranges to the east.
Habitats: Nearly 16,000 acres of channeled scabland with basalt outcrops, canyons, and ponderosa pine forests interspersed with marshes, wetlands, and lakes.
Access: Open daily during daylight hours.
Wild life: Duck, geese, white-tailed deer, elk, coyotes, beaver, badger, and moose.
