释义 | Rivlin, AliceRivlin, Alice (Mitchell)(1931– ) economist, government official; born in Philadelphia. Daughter of a nuclear physicist, she graduated from Bryn Mawr (1952) and earned a Ph.D. from Radcliffe (1958). She became a staff member of the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. (1957), was deputy assistant at the Department of Health, Education and Welfare (1966–69), and then became the first director of the Congressional Budget Office (1975–83). She then became director of economic studies at the Brookings Institution (1983–87). In 1993 she was appointed deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Clinton administration. A respected analyst of the U.S. economy, she wrote several studies of economic problems, including Economic Choices (1987) and Caring for the Disabled Elderly: Who Will Pay? (1988). |
