Ponyri

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Ponyri Raion, Kursk Oblast, RSFSR. Railroad station on the Kursk-Orel line, 76 km north of Kursk. Ponyri has a hemp mill, a butter factory, a brickyard, and a poultry hatchery. The Battle of Kursk of 1943 Historical Memorial Museum is located in Ponyri.
