Walgreen Coast

 

part of the eastern coast of the Amundsen Sea, between 100° and 108° W long., in western Antarctica. Portions of the edge of the continental ice sheet alternate with ice shelves and outlet glaciers. The highly indented coastline has numerous small offshore islands. The Walgreen Coast was discovered during the American expedition of R. Byrd in 1940 and named in honor of C. R. Walgreen, president of a Chicago pharmaceutical company.
