Wadsworth, Louis Fenn
Wadsworth, Louis Fenn,
1825–1908, American baseball player, b. Litchfield, Conn., grad. Washington College (now Trinity College), Hartford, 1844. After practicing law in New York City and presiding as a judge in New Jersey, he followed (1850s and early 60s) his passion for baseball and became a first baseman for the New York Gothams, then moved to the New York Knickbockers, and later returned to the Gothams. Wadsworth has been with helping establish the nine-man team and nine-inning game, and may have helped to set the size of the baseball diamond.Bibliography
