释义 | Thomson, Mortimer NealThomson or Thompson, Mortimer Neal,1831–75, American journalist and humorist who used the pseudonym Q. K. Philander Doesticks, P.B., b. Riga, N.Y. He joined the staff of the New York Tribune in 1855. His contributions in verse and prose, especially those against slavery, attracted wide attention. During the Civil War he served as a war correspondent for the Tribune and also as chaplain to a Union regiment. His best-known works include Doesticks: What He Says (1855) and a parody of Hiawatha, Plu-ri-bus-tah (1856). |
