Tree-Planting Machine

Single-row tree planters (the SLN-1 and LMD-1) and doublerow tree planters (the SLN-2) are manufactured in the USSR. The planting unit of these tree-planting machines, which places the seedlings in the furrow, is driven by the vehicle’s main wheels during motion; the furrow is formed by a share. SLN-type vehicles plant windbreaks and afforest slopes. The productivity of the SLN-1 is 0.25-0.6 hectares per hour; the planting interval is 0.5, 0.75, and 1 m, and the planting depth is 25–27 cm. The SLN-2 tree planter is similar in design to the SLN-1 but has two planting sections; its productivity is 0.5-1.4 hectares per hour and the interrow distance is 1.5-2 m. The LMD-1 planter is used to plant seedlings on cleared areas that have not been stubbed. The LMD-1 has a cutter capable of slicing through roots up to 10 cm thick and is equipped with rippers that dig out the sides of the furrow and transfer the upper (humus) layer of soil to the bottom of the furrow. The capacity of the LMD-1 is up to 4,000 seedlings per hour, the depth of the share is 23–27 cm, and the spacing is 37, 55, 75, 110, and 120 cm. Tree planters are used with DT-75M tractors.
