Strümpell sign

(1) An older term for the spontaneous dorsiflexion of the foot, which accompanies passive flexion of the thigh on the hip and is an ill-defined indicator of corticospinal tract disease (spinal paralysis).
(2) The inability to make a fist whilst dorsiflexing the wrist.

Strümpell sign

Dorsiflexion of the foot when the thigh is flexed on the abdomen. This sign may be associated with spastic paralysis of the leg. See also: Strümpell, Adolf G. G. von
