Turkmen-Kala

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Turkmen-Kala Raion, Mary Oblast, Turkmen SSR. Located in the Murgab River delta, 16 km north of the Iolotan’ railroad station on the Mary-Kushka line. Population, 5,000 (1975). The city produces carpets and rugs; it has a people’s amateur theater.
