释义 | Polypedatidae
PolypedatidaePolypedatidaea family of tailless amphibians. These frogs, which are web-footed, are distinguished from true frogs by the presence of a specially interpolated cartilage between the end and penultimate phalanges of the fingers. There are 17 (or ten) genera, which include more than 400 species; they live in Central and South Africa, on Madagascar, in Southeast Asia, and on the islands of the Malay Archipelago. The majority of Polypedatidae lead an arboreal mode of existence. The genus of web-footed frogs proper (Polypedates, or Rhacophorus) includes about 130 species. Some of these, like P. nigropalmatus, which lives in Java and Sumatra, can make long gliding jumps, up to 12 m. They are called flying frogs. Polypedatidae
