affirmative marketing program

affirmative marketing program

A voluntary program designed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in order to further its fair housing goals. This program seeks to involve builders, developers, lenders, and the real estate industry in a wide variety of cooperative enterprises to improve communication, focus, and sensitivity. Signatories are contractually bound to abide by the requirements of the plan. Many local governments have their own versions of an affirmative marketing program. Developers may agree to be bound by the master plan, or they must present and obtain approval of their own plan before construction permits will be granted.
