Ust-Ilimsk
Ust’-Ilimsk
a city (since 1973) under oblast jurisdiction in Irkutsk Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Angara River, 12 km from the Ust’-Ilimskaia railroad station on the Khrebtovaia-Ust’-Ilimskaia branch line. Population, 53,000 (1977).
Ust’-Ilimsk arose in connection with the construction of the Ust’-Ilimsk Hydroelectric Power Plant, which began in 1966. Enterprises include the Ilimskles Association, with nine logging and timber distribution establishments, and an association for the processing of nonmetallic materials, which has plants producing gravel, crushed stone, and concrete. As of 1977, a lumber and timber distribution complex was under construction.
