A wing in which the geometry can be changed at will or automatically. It can be done by having “fowler flaps,” which increase the overall camber and wing chord, improving the low-speed handling of an other-wise high-speed wing. Another method is to have tip droops that help increase stability and maneuverability and reduce the trim drag. The most common way of achieving this aim is to have a variable sweep as depicted in the illustration.
