Polymia
(The Flame), a monthly literary and sociopolitical journal published in Minsk in Byelorussian since 1922. At first, a group of elder Byelorussian writers, members of the literary organization Polymia (founded 1927) was associated with the journal; they included la. Kupala, la. Kolas, T. Gartnyi, and M. Gramyka. Since 1934, Polymia has been published by the Writers’ Union of the Byelorussian SSR. K. T. Kireenko has been the editor in chief since 1972. The journal publishes the best works of Soviet Byelorussian literature, as well as Byelorussian translations of Russian and other works. Circulation, more than 11,000 (1975).
