Six-Member Duma

 

the executive body of a municipal duma in Russia from 1785 until 1870. The membership of the body consisted of the gorodskoi golova (mayor) of the city and six councilmen, who were chosen from among the members of the general duma for a term of three years. The six-member duma was in charge of the maintenance of public order in marketplaces, the construction and preservation of city buildings and squares, and the collection and expenditure of city revenues.
