Polyglaciation, Theory of

the theory that there were numerous continental glaciations in the Anthropogenic period. The theory of polyglaciation is based on the alternation of warm interglacial climates and cold glacial climates in the moderate latitudes of the earth. Proof of this alternation is offered by corresponding changes in the composition of fossil flora and fauna in superimposed strata and by multiple repetitions in cross sections of glacial deposits.
