Established: 1972.
Location:On the California coast, about 30 miles south of downtown Los Angeles.
Special Features:Seal Beach provides important habitat for a variety of migratory shorebirds, waterfowl, and seabirds. As part of the predator management program, monthly night surveys of mammals are conducted.
Habitats: 911 acres of salt marsh, tidal wetlands, and a small area of coastal uplands.
Access: Limited; call the visitor center for activities.
Wild life: Endangered light-footed clapper rail, California least tern, brown pelican, peregrine falcon, and Belding's Savannah sparrow.
