Structural Zone
Structural Zone
an area of the earth’s crust, usually linear in form and characterized by a uniform structural plan and uniform tectonic deformations (for example, a fracture zone, a thrust zone, or a folded zone). Also distinguished are structurefacies zones and structure-formation zones, which, in addition, possess the specific features of the rock associations making up the zones (facies or formations). Each structural zone is an indicator of specific tectonic conditions under which the geological complexes making up the zone were formed.
