Sivkov, Konstantin Vasil’evich

 

Born May 12 (24), 1882, in Belgorod; died Dec. 12, 1959, in Moscow. Soviet historian. Doctor of historical sciences (1945) and professor (1947).

Sivkov graduated from Moscow University in 1906. During the 1920’s he worked at the Historical Museum in Moscow and subsequently at the Tver’ Pedagogical Institute. From 1935 to 1959 he conducted research at the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and also taught at the Institute for Historian Archivists and the V. I. Lenin Pedagogical Institute, both in Moscow. Sivkov’s chief works dealt with the history of agriculture and the peasantry and with Russia’s political history and culture during the 18th and 19th centuries.
