State: MarylandWe rented our basement apartment out to a man that worked for my husband. There was no lease, no security deposit, and he paid by weekly deduction from his paycheck. He went to jail about 3 1/2 months ago and paid nothing while he was in jail. Are we obligated in any way to this man now that he's out of jail? My husband says that we never put anything in writing and that means that we are. I disagree.

If he has no lease and pays weekly then you or he normally can cancel the agreement with one weeks notice-
