Ozerov, Vitalii Mikhailovich

 

Born Mar. 9 (22), 1917, in Kislovodsk. Soviet critic and literary scholar. Doctor of philology. Member of the CPSU since 1940.

Ozerov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature, and History in 1940. His works, published since 1940, deal with problems of socialist realism, the development of literary criticism, and the works of A. A. Fadeev and D. A. Furmanov, among other subjects. Ozerov became secretary of the administrative board of the USSR Writers’ Union in 1967 and editor in chief of the journal Voprosy literatury (Problems of Literature) in 1959. He has been awarded four orders, several medals, and the Bulgarian Order of Cyril and Methodius.
